Rainbow smoke screen: the tobacco industry, a false ally of LGBTIQ+ people
A new report from “Transparency and Truth” examines how the tobacco industry presents itself as an ally of the LGBTIQ+ community while targeting this community through specific advertising campaigns.

In Switzerland, as elsewhere, the tobacco industry plays a double game with regard to the LGBTIQ+ community. On the one hand, it presents itself as a defender of this still largely discriminated community by getting involved in diversity initiatives and generously funding events aimed at LGBTIQ+ people. On the other hand, the same industry specifically targets this community in its marketing campaigns and financially supports political parties that express hostile views toward LGBTIQ+ people.
The “Transparency and Truth” initiative is being implemented by OxySuisse on behalf of the Tobacco Prevention Fund. You can read the full report at: https://www.transparencyandtruth.ch/en/dossiers/rainbow-smoke
